Construction and Asset Manager

Therem Consult is recruiting a Construction Manager on behalf of a leading energy company deploying clean, reliable energy across emerging markets based in Niger State. The Construction Manager will establish and lead the Project Management Unit (PMU) to oversee key power infrastructure construction, contractor delivery, and contract management, ensuring projects reach Commercial Operations Date (COD) on time and within budget.

Project & PMU Leadership: Establish and direct the Project Management Unit, leading daily decision-making, governance, and resource allocation across construction activities.

Contract & Partner Management: Direct contractor activities, serve as primary interface with the Owner's Engineer, evaluate variations, and negotiate contract adjustments.

Site Governance & Safety: Implement health, safety, and operational standards; inspect sites, lead risk management, and investigate workplace incidents.

Reporting & Strategy: Track project schedules and budgets, present risk registers to executive leadership, and support ongoing infrastructure development strategies.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Master’s & professional chartership preferred).

Certifications: PMBOK, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.

Experience: 10+ years managing electrical distribution infrastructure projects or contract execution.

Technical Expertise: Strong background in contract governance, power sector operations, contractor management, and project accounting.

Languages & Skills: Proficiency in written/spoken English required (Hausa is a plus); strong leadership and negotiation skills.
